Kibun

Patchwork Upholstery

Kibun is a project founded by Sofie Hannibal and Nan Na Hvass in 2020 as a space to explore graphical expression though serene textile surfaces using imagery inspired by natural cyclical rhythms related to tonality, light and time – for instance the changing tones of the sky over time, or reflections on the surface of water. So far Kibun has presented two series of tapestries: Rhythm, 2020 and Spectrum, 2021 plus collaborations with furniture companies TAKT (DK) and Hjelle (NO). With this exhibition we have ventured into creating our first piece of furniture and hope to further explore Kibun surfaces in the context of furniture.
All of our textile work is made by patchworking upholstery fabric.

We create unique imagery by interpreting the world around us and distilling what can initially seem hard to capture.
